Birds in the Woods

Birds in the Woods are an Acoustic-Funk Fusion group from Boston MA. Made up by George Woods (Guitar/Vocals), Sue Buzzard (Violin), Tyreek Jackson (Bass), and Massimo Buonanno (Drums), the quartet offer a unique coupling of jazz licks combined with luscious, funky grooves and scintillating strings work, underpinned by Woods lilting voice and poetic musings.

The group originally formed as an acoustic duet in 2007 between George and Sue. Now as the full ensemble, the band recently released their debut recording “Some Thing Knew? to rave reviews. Some examples including “Birds in the Woods will redefine the definition of music.” and “Birds in the Woods have made one of 2009’s finest recordings… It’s complex. It’s beautiful. It’s passionate. This is a band that has it all together.” The band has also had their work featured on compilation CD’s for magazines like US juggernaught Relix.

As individuals, Birds in the Woods have worked with renowned artists such as John Mayer, Burt Bacharach, Oscar Stagnaro, and Paula Cole to name a few. Several members of the band have also toured countries like Switzerland, Venezuela, Aruba, Scotland & Italy. The band also had the privilege of playing the 2008 Boston Music Festival, where they competed against 130 bands, winning by popular vote; their prize was an industry showcase and a celebration concert at Boston City Hall.

Destined to appeal to lovers of Dave Matthews Band, Herbie Hancock, Damien Rice, and Ani DiFranco; BITW offer their listeners a creative talent and boundless energy that few outfits could muster. Appeasing to muso’s and casual listeners alike, BITW are one of the best bands you may have never heard.
