Resume:
Lecturer and Director of Undergraduate Teaching Eric S. Hald joined Shantou University in 2018 as a Li Ka-Shing Instructional Fellow with the University of Michigan. He joined the Shantou University Department of Biomedical Engineering faculty in 2019. His main research interests include cell and tissue mechanics, neurodegenerative disease mechanisms, tumor metastasis, and biomedical engineering education. Dr. Hald received his PhD in Biomedical Engineering from University of Minnesota 2016. Previously, he has worked as a postdoctoral research assistant at the University of Minnesota and as an instructional postdoctoral fellow at the University of Michigan. He was a founding member of the Shantou University Department of Biomedical Engineering's undergraduate teaching team and has been responsible for the department's undergraduate curriculum since its inception, including annual reports to the Ministry of Education as the first batch of new engineering research and practice projects. Dr. Hald is also dedicated to creating co-curricular professional and English language opportunities for students in the department.
Dr. Hald has published 7 papers as first author in the fields of pediatric ophthalmology, cancer genetics, and cell and tissue mechanics. He has also published several papers as a collaborating author in the fields of cell and tissue mechanics and biomedical engineering education. He has served as a reviewer for Translational Stroke Research, the American Society for Engineering Education Annual Conference, University of Michigan Engineering Research Symposium, and the Journal of Biomedical Engineering Education.
